What an inspiring video…
Maybe I could start my own non-for-profit one day…
How much longer until I know what to do?…
So. Many. Thoughts.
This post goes out to my fellow students/graduates/mentors/anyone-who’s-completed-something-significant followers. How did you know you wanted to pursue what you’re pursuing? I find that there’s so many options, so many opportunities, it makes it challenging to just pick ONE. I mean, do you have to pick JUST ONE?
It’s been exactly 2 weeks since my ACL reconstruction surgery, and boy, let me tell you – I’m ready to run! (well, mentally).
As a third-year undergrad, I couldn’t help but think about what I want to do when I graduate. Like, should I be considering that, now? Come on, you’ve gone down this route before, too. Thinking, what should I do after graduation?
Let’s face it, it’s not all about the gown, diploma, and long speeches.
People say, “Follow your passion”, heck why not take your passion with you? Others suggest, “You’ll know when you get there” — where exactly am I going?
Isn’t this something we millennials struggle with from the get-go? — What do I want to be when I grow up? What degree should I pursue? Do I really want to go to college? How about university? Maybe I’ll just take a year off… What will truly make me happy?
One of my inspirations, Terri Savelle Foy has said,
“You don’t decide your gifts, you discover them, then you need to develop them. Talents come so natural to us, that many times we don’t even recognize them as talents.”
So, our gifts ARE discovered, and our talents ARE natural. So perhaps it’s about zoning in and focussing on less (Focus on less); what matters to you during the process of completing my undergraduate degree, working where I work, or volunteering where I volunteer – It all adds up.
1, 2, 3…It all adds up.
It all adds up to what you’re working on.
It all adds up to what you’re considering or aspiring to do.
It all adds up to what you’ve failed at doing.
It all adds up to what you’ve achieved.
It all adds up to make this life, yours.
Own it! As for me, I’ve gotta start taking my own advice and really narrow down my options.
Thanks for hearing me out family!
