JAMES 4:17
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for [them] it is sin.
MATTHEW 7:24
Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock
JOHN 14:23
Do you love God? Keep His Word, the Father will LOVE them, COME to them, and MAKE a home with them

It’s important to obey what God says, especially when we know God is trying to tell us something and is trying to lead us to take a certain way/direction.

- Prayer PRECEDES action
In the Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) world, the field of work I practice, there is a type of data collected called “ABC Data” to assess specific behaviours. A = Antecedent, B = Behaviour, C = Consequences. (more info: https://www.simplyspecialed.com/how-to-take-abc-data/). This simply means, something happens, behaviour or a response occurs, then a consequence results due to the initial “something” that happened. Think of it like making a purchase at your favourite online store: you think, “I need to get more socks”, you respond by adding socks into your online cart to buy them, resulting with delivered socks in 2-3 days.
For a behaviour like prayer to be effective in a Christ-Follower’s life, the following is what I propose would be required:
- A = the antecedent would be to meditate or study God’s word (Having constructive discussions on what the Word says may be helpful, too)
- B = the behaviour would be prayer, having a conversation with God. This would mean moments where we would speak, then moments when we would have to listen to God’s response
- C = the consequence would be the ability to take action based on the conversation that was had with God
Song of meditation: Honest Offering/I Surrender All by CAIN
Prayer:
Listening takes action. Talking to God can sometimes look like a ranting session, a crying session, or even just sitting down, attempting to gather words before hearing a response. Prayer can be so meaningful when done with intentionality to have. a 2-way conversation. I know I’m learning the importance. of reciprocating when to listen and when to speak. God, You’ve got it all. I’m surrendering it all to You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
