It’s a New Chapter

Hey Beauts!

Long time no see! Thanks for bearing with me. Like you, I’ve been going through a transition phase from one routine to another.

For those that have been following for the past year, thank you! For those just joining my journey on Lifeisabeaut – welcome! I’m happy you’re on this page and willing to read through what God’s been doing in and through my life lately.

(sigh).

So, what’s been going on with me? New job, new friends, and renewed attitude towards life.

New Job – next week will mark the first week of “working from home” and it’ll be pretty interesting to see how that will roll out. Same type of work but different organization. I praise God for allowing me to struggle for the last 6 months to just “figure it out” (Yes that’s an awesome Allen Stone song btw). Trekking through the muddy trails of life, I find myself in the field I believe God has led me to through… 10 or so years to land here. I help provide services for children, youth, and families with individuals with autism and/or disabilities and truly do not know where else God would lead me otherwise. Unless God moves me out of this field, I’m deciding to stay put!

New friends – well, since some of my closest friends are now living outside of the province or the country, I praise God for placing new friends in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends abroad, but hello – I need people here to physically be here y’know? (well, with the exception of the quarantine lifestyle we’re all living at the moment, you get what I mean). There are people who have recently decided to invest in being a part of my life and I want to be a part of theirs just as much. If you’re reading this, I want you to know that you are loved! Not just by me, but by our Father up there 🙂 More than I can ever!

Renewed Attitude – Life in school was “life in school”, hence life after school is “life after school” aka life in a new season! Sometimes I catch myself missing “the good old days” when things were easier, or better. Reality is, that was life then and this is life now. Things get better in time and it’s only by accepting what’s happening now that you can actually deal with the now. I can look back all I want to, but all that’s going to do for me is make me not see what’s right in front of me. I mean try it. Stand up, and walk with your head turned towards your back – can you see what’s in front of you? Point made 🙂

So, I welcome this new chapter of life with open arms and a heart that has been strengthened because it’s been broken and patched up by the grace of God. Oh thank God He doesn’t get tired of my mistakes (1 John 1:9)! Praise God that He never leaves me behind (Matthew 18:10-14)!

I’ve learned that I need to rely on Him to get me through. If things don’t make sense, I probably need to stop trying to make sense of it and seek wisdom from God’s Word or people whom God is placing in my life to speak wisdom. (Genesis 2:7, Proverbs 27:5,6).

We weren’t meant to do life alone, so stop trying to. Bring God along with you. Take an hour this week and reflect on where you’re at, thank God for where you’ve been, and surrender where you’ll be to Him!

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.” – C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
